In the UK, a woman aged 50 had died 15 days after refusing to receive medical treatment. The woman whose name was given simply given as "C" had attempted suicide by drug over dosage. The drugs had damaged her kidneys so that she required dialysis. But she refused any form of treatment being administered to her. Her reason was that she had lost her youthfulness and beauty and did not want to experience old age.
The case was taken to court by a daughter of hers and the court ruled in her favour and ordered that no treatment be given to her and that her identity be kept anonymous even after death.
Before her attempted suicide, "C" had lost a long term relationship, got hooked to drugs and ran into huge debts.
